Volunteer Centre Swindon is governed by a Board of Trustees which meets every 6 weeks.

Office Holders

John Fowler, Chair

John recently retired from Intel where he was Head of IT.  He holds a Diploma in Management Studies , with extensive experience of training and people management. He was a passionate advocate of Employer Supported Volunteering within Involve Swindon

He has experience of project management, managing contracts and people.

Steve Sexton, Vice Chair

Steven is a Project Manager and Chartered Civil Engineer currently working Network Rail..  During his career he has spent a lot of spare time working for various charities, medical, pharmaceutical companies and the NHS in helping people living with chronic conditions.

For 15 years Steven was responsible establishing and managing Diabetes Insight, a patient information website and support groups for people living with diabetes.   He also worked with the NHS at both a national and local level, various medical and pharmaceutical companies to improve services, information and support for people living with diabetes. Steven has also helped produce patient information packages and supported groups for various other charities and organisations.

Last year Steven was a co-opted as a Trustee for Volunteer Centre Swindon and has played an active role at the VCS, including using his photography and desktop publishing skills for the Picture Perfect Exhibition held earlier this year.

He has been the Volunteer Co-ordinator for the Swindon Therapy Centre for Multiple Sclerosis and the Project Officer for Swindon and Walcot Parks (SWAP), helping them to provide community football pitches at Walcot Park in Swindon.

Steven is an advanced motorcyclist and enjoys training other motorcyclists for their Advanced Motorcycle test as well as organising motorcycling rides and tours.  Steven also has a strong interest in fashion and landscape photography.

Pete Morgan, Treasurer

Peter has recently retired from Nationwide where he was a Fraud Analyst. Previous posts held include Company Secretary/Finance Director with T G Jeary Ltd and Group Garage Accountant with Linton and Hirst Ltd

Peter was co-opted onto the Management Committee of Volunteer Centre Swindon in 2012.  Since then he has worked with other trustees and Volunteer Centre Swindon staff on understanding our financial systems.

He was admitted as a Chartered Certified Accountant in 1975

He has also been involved with local Round Table and Rotary groups.

Peter also enjoys foreign travel, cycling and swimming.

Other Trustees

Annabel Elrick

Annabel currently works as an Employment Advisor with RFET  Wiltshire which is a Charity that supports people with mental health problems who are seeking employment or training. She  work with clients on an individual basis in order to understand their aspirations and to design a personal plan to achieve their employment and training goals.

Prior to becoming an Employment Advisor she worked as a Training Officer with long term adult unemployed and as a Special Needs Careers Officer with young people with a variety of disabilities.

She has extensive experience as a volunteer herself and brings knowledge of disabilities and equal opportunities

Kaye Franklin MBE

Kaye has over 30 years experience in the local voluntary and community sector. She has been Chair of volunteer Centre Swindon since it was established in 1999, stepping down after its 10th anniversary in 2009.  She has also been chair of Age Concern Swindon, Family Mediation North Wiltshire and  Swindon Dial a Ride.

She is skilled at managing organisations and people as well as chairing meetings.  She has extensive knowledge of Swindon and is always a sympathetic listener.

  • John Reeves

John has over 30 years experience of management  in electronics industry. He has  also been involved as Deputy Director of Swindon Samaritans, and Chair of Home Start, as well as operations manager for Swindon Dial -A -Ride

He brings experience of managing people, organisations  as well as Health and Safety and Risk Management

  • Vicki Brook

Vicki has spent 10 years both working and volunteering in the voluntary sector, starting in Northamptonshire at Kettering Volunteer Centre recruiting and managing volunteers, leading on Investors in Volunteers accreditation and volunteer policy creation, and writing funding bids for local government contracts including community transport schemes.  Vicki helped to set up Volunteer Action Northamptonshire, a charity working with Young People in the Kettering, Corby and Wellingborough areas.

Over 6 years ago Vicki moved to Swindon to work for the National Trust as Volunteer Programme Officer concentrating on national volunteer conservation holidays and employee volunteering schemes.  Still working for The National Trust, she focuses more closely on marketing, and she is currently studying for a diploma in digital marketing.
