Where volunteering begins
Volunteering is about giving your time, skills and experience to help an organisation or individual do something that they wouldn’t otherwise have been able to do. You might not get paid but it isn’t just a one-way relationship; you can also gain a whole host of things by volunteering such as developing new skills or using your existing ones, adding new experiences to your CV, building confidence and self-esteem, meeting new people, giving something back and having fun!
Whatever your background, work experience, gender or age, you will have a skill that someone needs. No matter how busy you are there will be something that you can do.
There are over 400 different volunteering opportunities across Swindon. You might be interested in volunteering directly with people or perhaps you’d be happier behind the scenes.
Some people may want a regular volunteering role while others may want to volunteer occasionally. There really is something for everyone. Here are a few ideas ….
How do I find something?
Our drop-in centre is open Mon – Fri from 11am – 3pm to anyone interested in volunteering. You can meet an advisor in our confidential interview room and find out more about any aspect of volunteering that interests you. We can then give you information about different opportunities that you can take away.
You can call us on 01793 420557 during our normal office hours between 09.00 – 4.00 – you may need to leave a message if we are busy.
You can search for opportunities using the do-it.org.uk website – use the search box at the left of this page.
