Working in partnership with Voluntary Action Swindon and Jobcentreplus.
The aim of the project is to support the long-term unemployed through a holistic programme of volunteering, training and job seeking support to move people closer to becoming economically active.
Jobcentreplus will select long term unemployed clients, who are keen to take part in the project, to help prepare them for a return to work.
VAS will provide on going support via a Work Club, supporting job searches, CV writing, interview skills etc. They will also carry out a CRB check.
VCS will find suitable placements to help learn new skills or brush up on rusty ones. We will monitor and support the client through their placement.
The clients will have up to 3 days for 12 weeks in a volunteer placement and complete a Skills Portfolio to chart their progress.
We will work with other providers to find relevant training, accredited if possible, literacy and numeracy if appropriate.
Together, we will support and develop the clients in taking a significant step towards returning to work.
