Volunteer Centre Swindon is part of a national network of Volunteering Development Agencies. We work with individuals, groups and organisations in the voluntary sector to promote, support and develop volunteering in the community. We are accredited members of the national body of NVCO and we work to quality standards and principles. We are a registered charity no. 1078012
We started in 1997 as a Voluntary Action Swindon project through a grant from the Make a Difference Programme and were originally known as Swindon & District Volunteer Bureau. We became an independent charity on 9th Sept 1999. We were awarded quality accreditation from Volunteering England in 2002 which was subsequently renewed in 2003 & 2005. 2005 also saw the re-brand to Volunteer Centre Swindon take place and in 2009, we celebrated our 10th anniversary. We are currently a NCVO accredited Volunteer Centre

We are delivery partners in The Voluntary and Community Sector Emergencies Partnership is a partnership of local and national voluntary and community sector organisations. It was formed in response to learnings from several 2017 national crises, including Grenfell Tower fire.
We are currently funded through John Lewis Partnership- Community Investment Fund
